How Do You Follow Blogs?

I am really curious how you guys follow the blogs you read. I doubt very many people do without some kind of RSS/feed reader. When I first started blogging I remember going to the blogs I liked over and over and not seeing any new content. That got old really fast. Fortunately some really smart, now rich, guy developed something called RSS where any new content gets picked up by any of a number of sites called “readers” whether it is google’s or bloglines or even email subscriptions where you get all new content in your inbox. How do you guys read blogs? Also, how much does twitter play a role in the content you view online?
Second, what moves you to post a comment on any given blog. I probably get 70 page views/comment. That doesn’t seem like a very good ratio. I know I am to blame for a lot of that because I am very guilty of posting content, getting comments and then not responding or dialoging with those interested in that topic. I am trying to do better with that but I realize it still needs to improve.
Last, what makes you smile? Does this?
I subscribe to blogs with Google Reader. However my Google Reader has had over 1000 unread posts for way over a year. So sometimes a tweet about a post or a post from Networked Blogs will send me to the post direct. I generally comment when my hear a little voice in my head engaging in conversation with the blog post. Then I quit discussing with myself and type a reply..
I use google reader!! I’m terrible about commenting because of that. And, yes, that definitely made mes smile.

I only follow a couple of blogs, and I see the start to them on Facebook. I’m not real good at leaving comments but I love to read them and look at them. Yes, you really did make me smile. I want a copy of both pictures, Please.
I don’t use Google Reader anymore. Most folks I read tend to post links to their blogs on FB and/or Twitter.
And the reason I do that is because Twitter/FB gives me a good idea of what’s “buzzing” — what the world is chattering about. That’s what I want to be tuned into & spending most of my news reading time on.
Yes, that made me smile.
How could a smile that pleased with himself not get a big one in return?
Solely thru email or site visit. i tried google reader a couple times, really just didn’t like the format or interface at all, so i’ve never used it again.

Guess I’m odd man out (story of my life) — I use a standalone RSS reader. Right now I’m using Vienna on the Mac.
I used Bloglines, then Google Reader, but I tend to find too many blogs that I think I would like to read and I end up not reading anyone because there is way too much to read. So now I have an iGoogle page with boxes of links (probably only 20 or so) for the blogs I really want to read. You, Tim Archer, and Jerry Starling are among the ones I visit regularly each day.
Google Reader and Twitter. I follow too many people for FB and Twitter to be effective at catching the writers I know I want to read – so I’ve stuck with Google.
and that’s a pair of stupendous pictures! Personality just exploding through them – can’t stop smiling 🙂
Thanks Nick!
I use an RSS aggregator. I subscribe to 470 blogs and news sites, and the only aggregator I’ve found that can handle all that well is RSS Owl. Great product.
